I try to introduce as much variety as possible into Ayden's diet. So far, he is not fussy at all with that I give him. And I try to keep his ingredients fresh and as natural as possible.
One of my favorites is Bircher Muesli. When Ayden was on breastmilk I made them with breastmilk. Now that I've run dry, I make them with fresh milk.
Here's the recipe! Portions are for baby size of course. Double or triple it for adults portion.
1 tablespoon rolled oats
1 oz fresh milk
1 oz apple juice
1 tablespoon natural yoghurt
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 apple grated
chopped fresh fruits
Soak the rolled oats in the milk and apple juice for at least 2 hours or over night. If you are soaking over night, make sure you keep it in the fridge! Just when you are about to serve, add the yoghurt, honey, grated apple and chopped fresh fruits. Thats it!!
Usually I'll make some for myself as well. The grated apple adds texture to the oats which makes it oh-so-yummy!!
I've tried with other fruit juices like orange juice and mixed fruit juices. Does not work as well as apple juice. I've also tried with instant oats instead of rolled oats. Instant oats tend to be slimy in texture. Not nice at all! But if you are in a hurry and have no time to soak the oats go for instant oats anyway. Don't soak instant oats over night! Thats what makes it slimy!
Happy trying!
