On reading

I love to read. I used to read more when I was little. I lived in TTDI when I was little and its close to a public library so I had easy access to lots and lots of books. The library was within walking distance to my house so every afternoon I used to spend hours in the library. Besides the books, the library was also airconditioned and at that time airconditioning was not common at home so it was really a treat to be in an airconditioned room!

My favourite author at that time was Enid Blyton. Enid Blyton was a hit back then. All my friends were reading her books. I read all of her books from Mallory Towers, all from The Famous Five, some of The Secret Seven (did not like them much cause I thought they were really sad people), I loved Mr. Twiddle, The Golliwogs and The Far Away Tree Series. Infact my very first novel was The Enchanted Wood. Loved the story! Those who has read it, remember Moon Face, Pop biscuits, slippery slip, The Far Away Tree that has different lands stopping at the top, the Topsy Turvy Man .... *sigh* it brings back so many childhood memories.

Then I got a little older and went for books like Sweet Dreams and Sweet Valley High. Silly girly books but definitely nutures a teenage girls girly side. Although they are books that is meant for teenagers, some parents forbade these books. I had friends who used to hide them under their mattresses from their mums!

Nowadays I'm into murder and mysteries. I read so much of them I get nightmares! But I have less and less time to read. Its either that or I don't actually make enough time to read. I take more than 1 month to finish a book! That is far too long.

Despite loving to read, I don't like buying my novels. Its not because i kedekut, but its more of I don't like storing books that I would only read once. So I frequent second hand bookstores where I can buy and sell back the books to them. But I must remember to return them by the due date or I get fined 10 sens a day and would end up keeping the book instead. Right now I've got "The Big Bad Wolf" that I've already finished long ago and keep forgeting to return the book.

I love reading too! I still actually read Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree (so much fun!) But I'm a book hoarder - I can never give up my books. I'm into romance though... if you were into it I'd offer to lend you my books *laugh*
