I have a dream

Of working from home. Of taking my photography to higher levels, a more profitable business.

I've been so inspired by Australian newborn photographer Kelly Brown, I found her baby randomly googling for newborn photography workshops. She is a mum of 3 kids 2 of them being a pair of twins. She has the lifestyle that I crave. Her studio is right in her home. In her workshop video, which I purchased from Creative Live, she explains her routine. She takes in one appointment each day which starts at 10am after her kids are in school. She'd be done with the shoot at around noon. Her kids comes home from school at 2pm and where she would then focus on her kids and give them her undivided attention. She'll then do her editing at 10pm at night when the kids are asleep.

Thats not a bad routine is it! She makes around AUD 100k per year. Not too bad at all for a "mum with a camera " as she calls herself.

Her studio at her homein Australia is so inspiring. Simple and comfortable inexpensive to set up.

Being so inspired her workshop and her life, I began shooting newborn babies. I bought the basic equipment and props tp start up. By some friends network and rezeki I got my first jobs at a confinement centre.

I even took a drive to a nearby SOHO (small office home office) near where I live to see if the space would be suitable for a studio.

Lots of fairy dust please! Make my dream come true

Let's Dream

Ok let’s dream a little.

White sandy beach, blue skies, breath taking white little houses on the hill over looking the sea. Beautiful sunsets, breezy balconies, long lazy days ….

Do you feel yourself relaxing yet? Do you get what I am dreaming about?

A Greek Island of course!!

So we are planning for next year’s holiday… Santorini baybee!!

Hopefully this dream will come true.

I wish I wish I wish! Fairy Dust Please!!

(PS: was planning to get some photos from google images, but that hardly will do any justice to this post. Too many beautiful pictures to post up here. So go on and google Santorini and see for yourself!)

A walk in... wardrobe that is...

I soooo want one of these. No matter how often I spring clean my current wardrobe, I ALWAYS run out of space. Although my current wardrobe is already 8 doors floor to ceiling. Half of it is hubby's space of course.

If EVER we get to buy a new house, hopefully it comes with walk-in wardrobe space. Nowadays the new houses design (from semi-D size of course) comes with consideration of a walk-in wardrobe space. And I love to have a centre island in the middle where I can put my jewellery, accessories, make up etc.... a layout kind of like in those small dress boutiques in Bangsar, which is nowadays so cosy and interior decorated.

I WISH I WISH I WISH!

House Hunting

We are house hunting. Yes we need a bigger space. More rooms, more square feet. I need a kitchen island and a walk-in wardrobe. Too much to ask? …. Too bad.

Given our age, we just about qualify for a 30 year loan. With the minus BLR interest rates now, getting a housing loan for a larger house can almost be a reality. Question is, how large and where?

We are mostly keen on Petaling Jaya area. Preferably at the TTDI, Kota Damansara, Mutiara Damansara area. Although it is well known that Mutiara Damansara, more specifically The Curve and Ikea area is terribly congested on weekends, it still has all the amenities we require. Kota Damansara now has a Giant as well as Carrefour. It also has a Village Grocers at Dataran Sunway. Dataran Sunway is however also another over congested area, where I avoid at all cost during peak working hours. Kota Damansara also has the Penchala Link that goes directly to TTDI, Mont Kiara and Hartamas. I love where we live now. BUT we need a bigger space!

For a larger space eg a Semi-D that is under a million, you need to go as far as Shah Alam or Cheras. If we want to maintain spending under say RM800k for something above 2,000 square feet but under 3,000 square feet, am not sure if we are able to get it in the area we are interested.

Recently we did drop by the Armanee Terrace 2 sales office just for fun. They have duplex condo units going for from RM850k. The layout is excellent! It's got everything I want, except space for a walk in wardrobe. The kitchen area is gorgeous. It has one bedroom and one maids room downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs. The family area upstairs and ground floor living area has a floor to ceiling glass wall where it overlooks the outside greens. (The condo is next to a hillside). I LOVE IT! I would book it at a drop of a hat. BUT it is still a condo. It also involves paying maintenance fees of RM700 per month! But it has all the club facilities you need. And looking at Armanee Terrace 1, their pool and club facilities are truly resort style. Many of the tenants expatriates and from their community websites, they seem to have quite many activities such as BBQ parties, Halloween parties for the kids etc.

Hubby is not convinced with this, but for the square feet and location that you are getting for that price, I'd say not bad. But it is still a condo. Oh pooooh….

The showhouse interiors has recently been removed and the whole unit will be torn down soon for other developments. I did manage to get the sales agent to take me to see whatever's left. It was better than nothing.

However a friend managed to pay a visit last year snapped some photos. Check em out!

Note: Pictures below are the corner units. 3,200 sqft with garden all around.

The guest bedroom downstairs. It overlooks the garden.

A shot from the groundfloor living room to the family area upstairs.
