A new found passion

Shopping!!!

Cliché? Not for me

I used to hate shopping. I really don’t see how walking around for miles looking at things could be fun. My friends tell me that they can spend all day window shopping, only stopping for lunch. I wonder …. Why la???

I only buy what I need, and only when I need it. Only when I need it is when I go around looking for it. And I will go directly to the section of concern. Example, shoes. I will go only into shoe shops or shoe departments.

As a result, my wardrobe isn’t that interesting at all. I could actually survive on 1 work shoe!! And I will wear it until it is totally worn out before I get another one. I would only have 1 shoe for each occasion, eg 1 sports shoe, 1 dinner shoe and 1 jalan shoe.

When I was cleaning out my wardrobe just before we moved to our new house, I realize that some of the clothes that I wear are from my university days! And most of my clothes are just, old and boring. I did not want to bring rubbish into my new house, so I spring cleaned my wardrobe and gave away, well, most of the things to my maid! Yes, even the clothes that I bought in UK when I was studying there! Sayang man. But I had to let go. If not I can’t move on.

My new work place has very trendy people. So that motivates me to get some nice clothes to go to work. So I started shopping.

I realized that my old methods of shopping does not work. It actually makes me spend more on the item that I need to buy. This is because I only go out when I need it, so I miss all the sales and value buys. Also, I probably would not find what I want. So end up compromising and not liking it in the end and it ends up sitting in the cupboard.

So now, I would buy whatever I like! But within reason. I will always look for good bargains. I would spend a little more for my work clothes, because I really wear it all day and most of the week, and less on my casual clothes. I will have a few of everything and actually would be spoilt for choice when I open my wardrobe. Usually, its like shit, that top is in the laundry so I've only got this to wear.

I feel good wearing nice stuff. I feel more feminine. Shopping as they say, nutures the feminine side?

I do find myself doing more feminine things too nowadays. Well, more shopping for a start. I read more women magazines and pay more attention to the fashion pages. I am reading more girly novels egs The Secret World of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (got nothing to do with my new found passion k). I used to like murder and mysteries and crime. Right now, I feel more complete.

Who would have thought that shopping could actually be therapeutic. So this is what Retail Therapy is all about!

Its like a makeover inside out.

And talking about shopaholic, I'm always in the mood. But I don't do this too often though.
