I remember when…

When I was litte, I used to play masak – masak outside my house with my neighbors. Mom did not let me go over to their house, so we played at the fence. We had those steel wire fence things so we could pass our pots and pans over to each other.

I remember also, I used to love making toy food with flour. I make a dough using flour and water. Then shape them into things like bread, vegetables, chicken and let it harden. Then I paint them. So much fun! Play doh back then was not available, so we had to make do la kan. Plasticine pun tak best because they come in those HUGE boxes and in boring colours. I can’t have everything in red now can I, or that electric blue. Plus those things makes your hand all sticky and smelly.

Now all grown up… (I think)… I still play with these things. When I was in Uni, I got my own doll house!! Best giler! I made it myself. Its one of those kits where you subscribe to and come in about 100 chapters. Each chapter they send is one piece of furniture or part of the house. You got to sand paper them, and paint them and then stick the parts together. If it is a chair for example, you got to make the cushions yourself. They provide the sponge and felt for it. So, at the end of the 100 chapters, you got yourself a whole doll house!! I received all 100 already but still yet to finish the house. It is still lacking the stairs to go upstairs. The little drawers on the side tables for the bedroom even slides open! Doors open and close, but because I am not good at ultra tiny stuff like the door hingest, they don’t really close all the way. The hinges are SO small, almost the size of a needle except shorter. My doll house is Victorian. Oh… and it comes with 4 dolls, the mum, dad, one little girl and a baby.

My doll house is still at my mums. I swore one day I will bring it to my house and finish it. Someday I will.

Oh and back to making toy food with plasticine, for my doll house, I make things like carrots, mushrooms, bread, cabbages with plasticine cos nowadays you can get the ones that comes in 12 colours in a box. Cool huh! How time has change toys.
