A break from a long silence

Its almost been a month since I last blogged! That’s a record!

I’m up to my ears with work, but strangely, I am enjoying it and very satisfied that things are progressing. I’m referring to work at the office that is. Yup, I’ve got 2 big projects going this year, and there are high chances that both would take off successfully. Fingers cross and will keep working at it.

For both projects, I will be traveling next month. Early August, I will be going to Papua New Guinea to do a presentation. Well, I won’t be the one presenting, but I am the one who will be preparing it. My boss will do the honors, thank god!! Presentation will be to the Prime Minister and cabinet! Exciting.

At the end of August we aim to be in Iran to finalise a deal. A deal so huge, that I hope, if successful, year end appraisals will be in BIG favor of me!

The other thing that is in my life at the moment is…… Nope… stork has not dropped by …. But Project X.

I guess its time to reveal what Project X is…… or rather….. roughly what it is. Due to the fact that I am working with The Company, I am reluctant to provide full details.

Project X is a Business!!!! Yupyup… I finally am doing it! I’m been thinking about it for the longest time. And finally I plucked the courage to get into it.

My aims of The Business are not exactly Big Bucks. One might think, then why on earth do it? Well, it’s the challenge that I’ve wanted to take up. Since I’ve always said that I wanted to do it, I just got to! I mean, I don’t want to end up with middle age crisis and regret not trying it. I might fail; it might succeed, I won’t know unless I’ve tried.

But right now, the challenge is bigger than I thought it would be! People tell me, just enjoy it! I seriously don’t see how. There is so much to be done. The Business was set up by my partner and I came into the partnership after she had done everything. All I needed to do was to just fine tune things and make sure that everything is working ok. Also need to make the place look more cozy and nice. And even that I am all stressed up!!! Wowzers.

Its only been a few weeks since my involvement in The Business. And my opinion thus far…. Thank god I have a day job!!! Though running a business is exciting and challenging and interesting, the reality is, if it were my bread and butter, I would be shitting in my pants. Though it’s all ok since it’s not the case for me, but merely extra shopping money if we make money, but if my bills and food and roof over my head depended on it, it’s mighty scary.

Business is rather slow but encouraging the first month. People are responding very well to my e-mail promos, but not so much from brochures and fliers. We’ll see how it goes towards the coming months.

To add salt to my worries, one of my staff has to go back to where she was from due to her youngest son being critically ill and in hospital. In other words, I am one staff down. Macam mana tak stress!! It’s only going to be a week though. Yup, these are the typical worries of a Business.

Other people in Businesses too, do share what headaches you go through! Since it’s my first time, I am worrying myself silly over everything!!

You're going places, woman.
Cool.

As for your Project X.
Perseverance is the key.
Never give, never surrender.
All the best to you and your partner.
