Of being strong

My grandmother recently fell down in the bathroom and broke her wrist. She was trying to wash the bathroom floor. We told her not to do housework time and time again but she just won’t stop. Now with her hand in a cast, she is still doing the laundry and whatever she can with just one hand. She just can’t sit still.

My grandmother is 83 years old. She is a person whom I admire most in the world. She is strong and makes the best out of life. She loves traveling and once or twice a year my aunt will take her on a holiday. She is still very strong and has no problems getting about in tours. Let it be climbing stairs, getting on and off a boat or walking for miles. Lately she gets tired a little bit sooner. She is 83 years old! And we keep trying to tell her to slow down.

Which got me thinking. Maybe she is still so strong today because of her will to live life to its fullest. Maybe her energy to comes from appreciating every single day she is healthy and able to do things. What if we tried to stop her from being active? Would her health start to deteriorate? Will she be start becoming sick?

Some people might think of it as being cruel letting her do so much. The thing is, we do try to stop her. But looking it at a different way, it is probably what keeps her strong and healthy.

I hope I would be as strong and happy as her at her age.
