The difference between liberal and crossing the line

I do wonder where we draw the line.

According to wikipedia the definition of liberal is:

emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power (especially of government and religion), the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected.[2] In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed

In a recent argument with hubby, I got pissed off because there was a girl, who is his very old friend, calls him at least twice a week for a chat. Naturally I got a bit annoyed. Although I know her well as well, I had the opinion that it is not right. I thought it was disrespectful of her to do that. Don’t get me wrong, I am not overly conservative or anything like that. I have many male friends. But when they get married, I don’t just call them unnecessarily for a chat. Once in a while I do, but not as much as twice a week.

Hubby thinks he is just being more liberal. He says that he does not think that there is anything wrong with it. Which brought me to think, so what is the difference in being liberal, and when someone crosses the line.

I could be liberal and choose to walk naked through Hyde Park. But aren’t I crossing the line?

Hi Lin,
Stumbled on your blog from Muddy's Laughing Matters.
For me, it's not whether you are liberal or not. It's about your other half's feelings. That should be the REAL barometer.
If you respect his/her feelings, you'd nip the bud whatever it is that irks him/her.

Have a good day and hope things have resolved themselves.

hi there Theta!

Thanks for visiting. You are right. I suppose we can go on forever debating about it philosophically, at the end of the day, its about respecting each other's feelings.

Thanks a bunch for the insights. Much appreciated.
