A doggie year

With Chinese New Year around the corner, I have to remember to get going with the necessary errands.

Got to get oranges, biscuits and snack things and change money for the ang pow. It is tradition to give a bag full of oranges with something like else like snacks to the people you visit, and they in return will give you something similar also when u leave.

Since I’m mixed Chinese, I gotta do this too. So that’s twice a year we got to give ang pow. Hari Raya and Chinese New Year oso! Luckily my family is small.

And every year we forget to buy oranges. So, on CNY eve, after the dinner, we go out and search the whole of KL and PJ for oranges! Most of the time we are lucky. Ada orang jual.

Yep, we have the CNY eve dinner to attend as well. Grandma always cooks really yummy stuff, but every year, the menu is almost the same. Deep fried prawns, steamed chicken, abalone with vege, mushrooms in soya sauce (my fav!!), mini yam in hoisin sauce (our family's secret recipe), sharkfin soup and of course yee sang. This year, grandma (we call her popo) will be belanjaing us at Kelana Seafood instead.

And also must remember to get ang pow packets!! Always forget one!

One time my mum (she’s the one who is Chinese) said that they were giving them away at the petrol station and she got some. And then hubby said, how come we don’t get? And then we realize, aiyaaaaa u melayu of course they don’t give u Chinese new year ang pow packets laaaaaaaaa

Hahaha :P
