F1 Demo

I went for my first F1 demo on Sunday. Hubby's been busy preparing for it so I thought I'd check out what the fuss was all about. The night before the demo he came home at 6am!! Traditionally the demo was done outside KL. The last one was in Kuching, so this time the previous years hubby is usually away for the demo. But this year, he is around so I don't miss him so much :D

I went half an hour early to make sure that I get a good spot. Whilst searching for one, I bumped into my friend's mum. She's about 55 and she came alone just to watch the demo. So since I was by myself as well I thought I tag along with her. So we chose a spot in front of the grand stand and waited for it to start. The sun was scorching hot but Auntie had an umbrella so I stood really close to her. Then, she whipped out a fan.... so I tumpang the angin lah hehe.

The demo began with a marching band playing some tunes. The crowd was getting restless as the sky began to look gloomy. The band was pretty good but everyone was anxious for the race to get started. Then there was a parade with the F1 drivers, Karamjeet Singh, Carl Fogarty and other non very important race car drivers riding on the back of the PAT (PETRONAS Adventure Team) 4 wheel drive, waving to everybody like Queen E. Finally when the demo started, it started to rain.

The first car to come out was a Proton Waja with Karamjeet Singh driving. Dam fast man! And silent too. So mat rempits (or geng kereta bikin) .... noise is not proportional to performance k!! Then the FP1 bikes, but they could not do much stunts as it began to drizzle. Road was getting slippery.Carl Foggy and Sharul Yuzi was riding my babies ( I was involved in the assembly of the FP1 in Gurun). The finally came the F1 cars, The first car came roaring from the behind the grand stand somewhere and onto Jalan Ampang. The crowd .... was not too wild about it. Macam tak hairan langsung! More rain pelted down. The Sauber did a pit stop and a demo of change of tires and then a few more laps. The rain by that time was pouring. After that came more Proton Waja's and then finally the second F1 car with Massa driving.

All in all it was interesting but the crowd was not too enthusiastic. Apparently the crowd outside KL was better and they screamed at the sound of the F1 engine. I guess KL people tak hairan with these things. So comments from the PETRONAS Motorsports guys.... better do it outstation the next time. The crowd appreciates it better.

For me, it was cool. I can see how the efforts touch the hearts of little children. To them, its dam kewl.

With F1 coming this weekend in Sepang, I would be seeing less of hubby. It will all be over this Sunday.
